Biography--

Norbert J. Meyer, age 82, of Aplington and formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Maple Manor Village in Aplington.

He was born December 6, 1933 on a farmer near Klinger, in Bremer County, Iowa the son of Edwin J. and Hilda Schweer Meyer.

Norbert was educated in Readlyn Schools and was united in marriage with Martha Marie Ford in February 1959 in Waterloo. She preceded him in death on November 1, 1999.

Norbert worked as a carpenter for Miller Construction and was also self-employed for 38 years, retiring in 1998. Following his retirement, he was a delivery driver for Doran Wholesale Florists in Waterloo. Norbert was a member of the Black Hawk County Street Machines Car Club, and he enjoyed NASCAR racing, ice fishing and going out for breakfast with his friends.

Survivors include a brother, Duane (Laraine) Meyer of Fairbank, Iowa, and a special friend, Catherine Elliott of Aplington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Scott Meyer; a brother, Victor Meyer; and three half-sisters: Lena Dorn, Florence Matthias and Letha Teigtmeier.
