Irene E. (Crane) Haskin-Jones

June 16, 1917 - February 14, 2016

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Irene E. Haskin-Jones, 98, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, February 14, 2016, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center, Cedar Falls.

She was born June 16, 1917, in Van Horne, Iowa, daughter of Fred and Mina (Corwin) Crane. She married Leo Ryan in 1935 in Cedar Falls and they later divorced. She married George Phillips in 1953 in Las Vegas and he preceded her in death in 1974. She married Karl W. Haskin of Cedar Falls in 1975 and he preceded her in death in 1983. She married George H. Jones in 1987 in Cedar Falls and he preceded her in death in 1995. She married Guy F. Jones in 1996 and he preceded her in death in 2008.

She attended St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Teachers College High School. Irene enjoyed her many years of providing in-home daycare to many children. She also will be remembered for her outstanding cooking and baking.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ryan Vognsen of Cedar Falls; a step daughter, Janice Kittelson of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Crane, Jr of Waterloo and Terry (Mary Ellen) Crane of Ankeny.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James Crane; a sister, Mary “Bettie” Backens; and two step daughters, Joan Koffler and Joyce Platter.

Services: Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Falls. Visitation Thursday at Richardson Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Western Home Foundation or Cedar Valley Hospice.
