WATERLOO, IOWA - Sylvia Peccola Smith, 63, of Waterloo, died Friday, Feb. 5, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

She was born Dec. 8, 1952, in Waterloo, daughter of Odie Granville Smith and Sanomia Alcoza Berdell-Smith-Gordon.

Sylvia attended Waterloo East High School and was a chaplain at Allen Health Iowa System.

Survived by: a daughter, Curisse (Daniel) Banks of Madison, Wis.; a son, Juddonnest Smith of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Juan Smith, Quallan Phillips, LaBria Smith-Outlaw, Zy-Aire Smith and Layla Smith; a brother, Odie "Cordell" (Virginia) Smith; two sisters, Deborah Walker and Linda (Toby) Cole; five nieces, Ebonie Walker, Chanel Walker, Alisha Smith, Patricia Love and Natoya Cole; two great-nieces, Reign Gary and Christina Campbell; two great-grandchildren, Jameka and Omarion; two nephews, Christopher (Jamie Moore) Campbell and Ryan (Stephanie Donnelly) Smith; two great-nephews, DeCalos Hughes and Tristen Sallis; and a special aunt, Sister Phyllis B. Henderson.

Preceded in death by: her parents, and a sister, Phyllis Ann Smith.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Faith Temple Baptist Church, preceded by an hour of visitation. Sanders Funeral Services is assisting the family.

Memorials: may be directed to the church.

Sylvia worked in the community, serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
