Omer “Joe” Lawson (1928-2016)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Omer “Joe”Lawson, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Western Home Communities-Windhaven.

He was born April 5, 1928 in Little Rock, Arkansas, son of Everett and Jewel (Watson) Lawson. He married Joan White in Santa Ana, CA in 1946 and she preceded him in death. He then married Darlene Worley-Wirth in 2003 in Sun City West, Arizona.

He worked in electrical construction prior to retiring.

He is survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; three sons: John (Mary) and James (Ruth) Lawson of Sun City West, AZ and Jeffrey (Leeann) Lawson of Corona, California; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Pearl, Jane, and Connie (Mel); two step sons, Dave (Carol) Wirth of Cedar Falls and Dr. Michael (Laurie) Wirth of Waterloo; step daughter, Cindy (Ward) Stubbs of Cedar Falls; six step grandchildren; and eight step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Hollis Lawson.

Services will occur later in Arizona.
