Waterloo, Iowa – Mary E. Stoner, 84 years old, of Waterloo, died on Monday, January 25, 2016, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab. Center in Waterloo.

She was born on April 7, 1931, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Fred Arthur and Clara Louise (Hagen) Burr. She graduated from high school in New Hartford, Iowa, with the Class or 1949.

On December 22, 1990, she and Dwight Clea Stoner were married in Waterloo. Mrs. Stoner worked in several positions throughout her life. She started as a telephone switch board operator. She held several clerical positions after that and at the time of her retirement in 1991, she was the manager of a convenience store. She was an accomplished seamstress and made most of her own clothing. She also enjoyed baking and gardening.

Mrs. Stoner is survived by her husband, Dwight, 1 son, Steven Luck of Waterloo, two step sons, David Stoner of Waterloo, and Doug Stoner of Fairbank, Iowa, one step daughter, Denise (Scott) Billman of Fisher, Indiana, three grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Fred Burr, Jr. of California, Ronald (Judy) Burr of Denver, Iowa, and Donald (Angie) Burr of Tripoli, Iowa, and four sisters, Donna Nettles of Louisiana, June (Larry) Powers of Dysart, Iowa, Wanda (Fred) Sowell of Wichita, Kansas, and Bonnie (Stan) Bauer of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James Burr, and two sisters, Sharon Danker, and Betty Halloway.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa, with Pastor Jim Bauer officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.on Friday, Jan. 29th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence
