Biography--

Calvin Meihost, 84, of Waterloo, died at Rochester Methodist Hospital ‑ Mayo Clinic, on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 of natural causes.

Calvin was born on August 28, 1931 in Tripoli, Iowa, son of Herman and Minnie Marie (Musch) Meihost. He graduated from Readlyn High School.

Calvin married Elaine Haverkamp on Dec. 29, 1957 in Tripoli. He worked for Mead Containers/Weyerhauser as a machine operator for 41 years and retired in 1996. Calvin served in the Army with the 64th Field Artillery 25th Div. as a corporal during the Korean War.

He was member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Calvin is survived by his wife; Elaine Meihost, two sons: Jeffrey (Vanessa) Meihost of Waterloo and Clark Meihost of Chandler, AZ; one daughter, Corinne Topping of Chandler, AZ; five grandchildren: Nathan, Jamie, and Lucas Topping and Tristan and Jana Rempt; and one sister, Marlys Ulm of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Meihost.
