Graveside services at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Waterloo Cemetery with military rites by Waterloo AMVETS Post #19, Evansdale AMVETS Post #31, and the Iowa National Honor Guard

Biography--

Theodore “Ted” Benjamin Turner, 96, of Waterloo, died at Friendship Village Retirement Center, Sunday January 17, 2016, of natural causes.

Ted was born on May 2, 1919 in Dunkerton, Iowa, son of Henry and Roberta "Ruby" (McMillan) Turner.

He married Gloria Stiffler on November 16, 1945. She preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2012.

Ted worked for John Deere as a pattern maker for 35 years before retiring in 1985. He served in the US Army in the European Theatre during WWII. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Silver Star, and Purple Heart.

He was member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church.

He is survived by: son Dr. Gary (Cheryl) Turner of Birmingham, AL; daughter Mary Ann (Tom) Ellis of Pineville, MO; son Tom (Coralie)Turner of Pensacola, FL; son John (Lisa) Turner Lino Lakes, MN; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Dr. Robert (Karen) Turner of Albuquerque, NM; and sister Ruby (Bruce) Schroeder of Whitewater, WI.

Ted was preceded in death by: his parents; one granddaughter, Brooke; and four brothers: Richard, Floyd, Don, and Ronnie Turner.
