Mervin Sealock

February 25, 1942 - January 19, 2016

Mervin Del Sealock was born on February 25, 1942, in Waterloo, the son of Sheryl and Marlys (Mason) Sealock. Mervin lived in the Clutier area his entire life and graduated from Traer High School in 1960. He then attended Iowa State University and Gates Business College. Mervin served his country in the United States Army Reserves at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri.

On June 1, 1968, he was united in marriage to Lynda Vogt at St. Nick’s Catholic Church in Evansdale. Mervin farmed just north of Clutier for many years. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, talking with friends, driving around and looking at his crops, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mervin died at the age of 73 at his home on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, following a sudden illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lynda; and a grandson in infancy, Brett.

Mervin is survived by three sons: Del (Michelle) Sealock of Clutier, Ryan (Ashley) Sealock of Waterloo, and Reece Sealock of San Diego, California; two sisters, Char (Jim) Kokotan of Waterloo and Rosemary (Ned) Vaughn of Traer; and four grandchildren: Jordan, Amber, Erin, and Jacob.

Private family services will be held at a later date with burial in Buckingham Cemetery.
