Biography--

Theresa E. Kapler, 98, died Friday, January 22, at NorthCrest Specialty Care.

She was born April 12, 1917 in New Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Ann Pierre Zeien. She married Richard Kapler on June 30, 1941, in Waterloo, Iowa. He died April 17, 2004.

Theresa worked in the cafeteria at Sacred Heart School for eighteen years. She spent many hours in her award winning large garden throughout her married life raising enough food to last the entire year. She was the center gathering spot for extended family, everyone knew they would be welcome and treated to some great cooking that she could prepare in short order. She was truly a gentle, loving and respectful lady.

She is survived by two sons, Robert (Randy) Kapler of Waterloo and Edward Kapler of Woodbury, Minn.; three daughters, Sheryl (Kay William) Crowe of Hastings, Minn., Linda (Paul) Dupuy of Waterloo and Marie (Arlin) Faust of Dunkerton; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Zeien of LaPorte City; two sisters, Loretta Courtney of Ottumwa and Barbara Nathanson of St. Paul, Minn; many caring nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Ralph Zeien.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with entombment in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 P.M. rosary. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Memorials may be made to the family or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
