Died: Jan. 14, 2016

Biography--

Harold H. “Bud” Voelschow, age 85, of La Porte City, died Thursday, January 14, 2016 at La Porte City Specialty Care.

He was born July 17, 1930 in Manchester, Iowa the son of Howard J. and Lena H. Helmrichs Voelschow. Harold was united in marriage with Helen R. Lorenzen on May 18, 1952 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

Harold was a metal pattern maker with John Deere and Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1987. He served in the US Navy Reserves for 9 years and was a member of the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of La Porte City; two sons, Jeff (Cheryl) Voelschow of La Porte City and Terry Voelschow of Des Moines; three daughters: Jodie (Roger) Hedgeman of Oelwein, Lisa (Jay) McCool of La Porte City and Rita (Gene) Kamback of Vinton; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Scott Voelschow; and two sisters, Leah McSparin and Dorothy Hoppenworth.
