Charles D. Griffith (1932-2015)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA -- Charles D. Griffith, 83, of Polson, Montana, and formerly of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, December 27, 2015, at St. Luke's Community Hospital in Ronan, Montana.

He was born June 22, 1932, in Ackley, son of Charles and Sophie Griffith. He married Jean Schwarz in Polson, Montana.

Charles served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return he learned to work with business machines and had his own business in Indiana and then Polson before becoming a truck driver for Hot Damn Trucking until 2001 when he retired. He then helped close the family business Service Inc.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Joni Recinos (Francis); two sons, Bill and Mark Griffith; two stepsons, Michael and Bill Schwarz; three sisters: Drusilla Richtsmeier, Irma Weatherwax and Charlotte Rogers; and several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; a son, Chuck; two sisters, Grace Smith and Gladys Norte; and a stepdaughter, Sherry.

Services: Per his wishes, no services are planned. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls, at a later date.
