Dr. Vaman Rao

August 31, 1933 - January 5, 2016

Dr. Vaman Rao was born on August 31, 1933, in Gogi, Karnataka, India; the son of Venkatesh and Bhima (Bai) Anjutgi. He completed his studies in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. Vaman attended City College and received his BA then attended Osmania University and received his MA in Economics. He furthered his education in the United States receiving a PhD at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.

Vaman was united in marriage to Geetha Bai Parikshith on December 5, 1963 in Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. He retired from his position as a Professor in Economics from Western Illinois University after a 50 year career in teaching.

Vaman passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Unity Point Health Allen Memorial at the age of 82. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother and two sisters. Vaman is survived by his wife Geetha of Cedar Falls; two daughters: Kavita and son-in-law Ram Dhanwada of Cedar Falls and Anita and son-in-law Vikrim Puri of Oak Park, Illinois; four grandchildren: Jyothi and Srinivas Dhanwada and Aasha and Nikhil Puri and a brother Keshav Rao Anjutgi of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.
