Biography--

Violet Casteel, 89, of Waterloo, formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, and Monroe City, Illinois, died at NorthCrest Specialty Care, on Saturday, December 26, 2015.

Violet was born on September 15, 1926, in Maeystown, Illinois, the daughter of Adam and Lydia Linker Grittman.

Violet married Glenn Casteel on February 11, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri.

She worked as an LPN at Schoitz Hospital and as a private duty nurse retiring in 1983.

Violet was member of Central Christian Church for over 60 years.

Survived by husband, Glen Casteel of Waterloo; daugthers, Dr. Nancy Casteel of Chicago, IL and Kathleen (Richard) Boudreau of Lake Tahoe, NV; a son, Doug (Virginia) Casteel of Waterloo; four grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Huntoon of St. Louis, MO and Ethel Foster of Baton Rouge, LA.

Preceded in death by her parents.
