Biography--

Cecil L. Schmidt, 87, of Waterloo, died at NorthCrest Specialty Care, on Saturday, December 19, 2015.

Cecil was born on June 7, 1928 in Van Wert, Iowa, son of George Albert and Callie Marie (Johnson) Schmidt. He graduated from Janesville High School and he later graduated from Business College.

Cecil worked as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 23 years before retiring in December 1993. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Cecil is survived by one brother, Merlyn (Shirley) Schmidt of Elk Run Heights; and two sisters: Esther Magnuson of Draper, SD, and Virginia Aneweer of Council Bluffs.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; four brothers: Harold, Clifford, Lewis, and Raymond Schmidt; and one sister, Doris Jacoby.
