Harold T. McElvenny

September 25, 1912 - December 23, 2015

Harold T. McElvenny, 103, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, December 23, at Friendship Village.

He was born September 25, 1912 in Waterloo, son of Alexander and Elizabeth Saul McElvenny. He married Daisy Craven in 1936 and they were later divorced. He married Mabel Flieder in 1954 and she died in 1990. He then married Maxine (June) Fisher Callahan in 1996 and she died in 2013.

Harold graduated from Traer High School and attended Gates Business College. He worked for five years at A & P Grocery Stores and then was employed with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 40 years, retiring in 1975.

Survivors include his daughter, Marlene (Junior) Boeckman of Waverly; two stepdaughters, Becky Thompson of Waverly and Judith Schreiber of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger in infancy; a step-daughter, Nancy Quail; a step-son, Edward Callahan; three grandchildren, a great grandchild; two sisters, Vera Bolte and Cleone Hoffman; two half-sisters, Louise Milne and Anna Karr; and a half-brother, Floyd Lingelbach.

Family graveside services will be held at a later date. Harold donated his body to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Harold was an avid golfer, loved to square dance and play cards with family and friends.
