Biography--

Donald Herman Bergman, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center.

Don was born September 5, 1924, in Douglas Township, Bremer County, Iowa, the son of Herman D. and Emma (Shultz) Bergman. He was baptized at Siegel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Douglas Township and was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, Iowa. He graduated from Waverly High School in 1943. Don was drafted and served overseas in the U. S. Army during World War II for three years. He attended Wartburg College for two years after the war.

He married Charlotte M. Poock June 2, 1951 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Readlyn. Don was a carpenter and construction superintendent for John G. Miller and Olesen Construction Companies, retiring in 1986.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte, of Cedar Falls; son, Jeffrey L. (Jill) Bergman, of Cedar Falls; daughter, Angela K. Bergman, of Iowa City; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; brother, Harvey Bergman, of Brownsville, Wisconsin; and sister, Marlyce Harvey, of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Roxanne in 2005; brother, Everett; and four sisters, Alice, Mildred, Bernice, and Luetta.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in Greenwood Cemetery with military honors conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to UnityPoint-Allen Hospice or the charity of your choice. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
