Richard "Dick" Schilling

July 27, 1925 - December 15, 2015

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Richard D. Schilling, 90, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center.

He was born July 27, 1925, in Columbus, Nebraska, son of Aloysius and Rose (Merz) Schilling. He married Margaret “Marge” Braden on June 28, 1948, in Peoria, Illinois. She died December 11, 2012.

He served in the US Army during World War II, then owned and operated Schilling Jewelers with his wife.

Survived by: two sons, Tim Schilling of Cedar Falls and Eric Schilling of Naples, FL; two granddaughters, Alexis and Samantha Schilling of Naples; a sister, Rosemary (John) Gilbert of Fort Meyers, FL; and a great granddaughter, Devin Schilling.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Francis and Howard Schilling; and a sister, Pauline “Polly” Beck.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Service, where there will be a 4 p.m. Rosary.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association.
