Leo N. Knebel (1926-2015)

WATERLOO, IOWA - Leo N. Knebel, 89, of Waterloo, died Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born August 5, 1926, in New Hampton, Iowa, son of Charles and Mary (Dolmage) Knebel. He married Darlene Praska on October 30, 1954 in Waterloo. She died in 2007.

He served in the United States Army and was employed in maintenance with Rath Packing Company for 35 years, retiring when the business closed.

He is survived by a daughter, Yvonne (Howard) Shepard of Parkersburg; five sons: Daniel Knebel of Waterloo, Roger (Hope) Knebel of Waterloo; Timothy (Mary) Knebel of Des Moines, Terry Knebel of Waterloo, and Kevin (Erin) Knebel of Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren: Chris (Dawn) Shepard of Aplington, Iowa, Melissa (Chad) Knipp of New Hartford, Iowa, Jenie (Jeffrey) Wyant of Reinbeck, Kyler and Erika Knebel of Colorado Springs, CO; and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; seven brothers: John, Ralph, Melvin, Earl, Ambrose, Elmo, Paul Knebel; and four sisters, Mary, Rita, Edith, Dorothy.

Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and also for one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be directed to the family in care of the funeral home.
