Laura Conner South was born on October 11, 1926 to Robert and Jessie (Cox) Muse in Holly Springs, Mississippi. She married James South on August 19, 1943. Laura loved gardening, and canning the vegetables that she had grown.

Laura passed away on November 10, 2015 at her residence in Hawkeye. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; her brothers: Cecil Muse, David Muse Sr., and Paul Muse. Laura is survived by her three sons: Marvin Jr. (Jeannine) South of Cedar Falls, Jimmie (Barb) South of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Robert (Cyndi) South of Hawkeye; eight grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren; and her sister Betty Krawczak of PeeWee Valley, Kentucky.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
