Kathleen Margaret Higgins, 98, of Waterloo, died Saturday, November 7, at the Friendship Village Pavilion.

She was born February 27, 1917 in Eagle Center, daughter of John and Julia Cranny Smith. She married Arnold E. Higgins, the love of her life, on October 4, 1941, in Waterloo. He died August 31, 2002.

Kathleen worked for many wonderful employers, starting with Waterloo City Engineer’s office and ending her career with People’s Mutual Savings and Loan, in 1980.

Survivors include: two daughters, Pat Gale and Anne Stickney; a son-in-law, Michael Stickney; and three grandchildren, Whitney Gale and Ben and Jane Stickney, all of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Preceded in death by: her parents; three brothers, Jack, Joe and Don Smith; and two sisters, Isadora Stahn and Delores in infancy.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward’s Catholic Church with inurnment in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Eagle Center. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Legion of Mary rosary.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
