Dunkerton, Iowa – Brian T. Belmer, 73, of Dunkerton, died Sunday, February 8, 2015, at the Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 14, 2015, at the First Baptist Church, Dunkerton, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton. Visitation will be Friday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, Iowa, and for an hour before services at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Dunkerton or to Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo.

Mr. Belmer was born November 3, 1941, at Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Lloyd Harlan Belmer and Caryl Marcell (Smith) Belmer. On June 12, 1960, he was united in marriage to Nancy Elaine Davis in Fort Dodge, Iowa. They later divorced. On February 8, 1969, he married Bonnie Mae Potratz at Lotts Creek near Fenton, Iowa. They have made their home in Dunkerton since 1980.

Brian was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dunkerton and was currently serving as a Deacon. Before retirement he had worked 25 years as a District Manager for the Rainsoft Corporation, over the years had also worked as a machinist, heavy equipment operator and over the road trucker. Where ever he lived he was active in his community.

He had served as an EMT and Ambulance Chief, as an auxiliary law enforcement officer, and was currently a member of the Dunkerton City Council. In his spare time Brian enjoyed Dirt Track racing with his sons, Nascar, the Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed traveling with Bonnie in the RV and meeting people. He had a great sense of humor and visitors at his home were always welcome.

Mr. Belmer is survived by his wife, Bonnie Belmer of Dunkerton; two daughters, Holly (Chris) James of Camdenton, Missouri, Jill Chadwick and fiancé Mike Carroll of Eldon, Missouri; two sons, Thomas (Regina) Belmer of Denver, Iowa, Troy (Candice) Belmer of Waterloo, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Daniel James, Nathan James, K.J. (Nicole) Wallander, Katrina (Jered) Clark, Amber (David) Barnett, Ashlin Hayungs, Jayden Johnson; seven great grandchildren, Kaylie and Lexi Wallander, Sophia and Gunnar Barnett, Skyler and Dakota James and Kayden Clark; his aunt, Dorothy Willardson of Gowrie, Iowa; and his extended family including Wayde and Mary Russell of Dunkerton and their children, April, Amber, Austin and Alexis.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert “Bobby” Belmer and Gerry Belmer.

White Funeral Home, Jesup, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
