Biography--

Frank Orvis Christie, 95, of Sumner, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner.

He was born September 18, 1919 in Bruce, Wisconsin, the son of Frank Edwin and Manetta (Altland) Christie. Frank married Emily Truax on July 20, 1941 in Waterloo, Iowa. She preceded him in death on December 29, 2001.

Frank married Jane Posekany in 2002 and she died October 9, 2014. Frank was a graduate of Waterloo West High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a carpenter and contractor with his firm Christie & Truax in Cedar Falls for many years, retiring from that work in 1974. Frank then became a realtor with Lamplighter Realty for ten years. He was also a long time member of the Black Hawk County Tax Review Board.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Zech of Cedar Falls and Ann (Lary) Cox of Alvord, Texas; three sons, Ted (Nancy) Christie of Lichting, Missouri, Michael (Ramona) Christie of Sumner and Dale (Sandy) Christie of Cedar Falls; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and both of his wives; a grandson, Frank Matthew Christie; two brothers, Dave and Edwin Christie; two sisters, Eleanor Henkle and Caroline Wren; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Christie, and a son-in-law, Ed Zech.

Services will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with inurnment and military honors, by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49, at a later date at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Visitation will be two hours before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
