Biography--

Irvin H. Baldwin, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

He was born August 3, 1926, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Otto and Mary (Girkin) Baldwin. Irvin married Alice Wright on June 13, 1953 in Charles City. He was a 1945 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Charles City and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Irvin was the owner of Rainbow Meats in Waterloo and was a security guard at the Black Hawk County Courthouse in Waterloo, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49.

Irvin is survived by his wife, Alice Baldwin, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Bob (Lisa) Baldwin of Des Moines, Iowa and Alan (Vicki) Baldwin of Cedar Falls; a special nephew, Tom (Marla) Green, of New Hampton, Iowa; three grandchildren, Eric (Brandis) Baldwin of Ankeny, Jered (Jessica) Baldwin of Denver, Colorado, and Bess (Bryan) McAlpine of Waverly, Nebraska; three great-grandchildren, Adyson and Liam McAlpine of Waverly, Nebraska, and Roman Baldwin of Ankeny; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Harlan, Russell and Glendon Baldwin, and five sisters, Margerite Thielen, Lucille Henderson, Mary Jean Heddinger, Betty Beck and Donna Byron.

Services will be Friday, June 12, 2015, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Charles City. Military honors will be conducted at the church by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49. Visitation will be 4-7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family.
