Bernice D. Lindsay, 93, of Waterloo, formerly of New Hartford, died Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. She was born October 19, 1921 in Norway Township, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Sadie (Hefte) Shaw. Bernice married Wilbur Lindsay on February 12, 1944 in Coulter, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1970.
Bernice is survived by two daughters, Aljean Bohnsack of Sparks, Nevada and Lynnette (Bruce Chihak) Jordan of Waterloo; nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren; two brothers, Orlan (Carol) Shaw of Spring Valley, Minnesota and Robert “Bob” (Pam) Shaw of Hampton, Iowa; three sisters, Caroline Neve and Evelyn Engelman, both of Austin, Minnesota, and Eldoris Seidel of Waterloo, and a brother-in-law, Alvin Lemke, of Alden, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a son, Eugene Lindsay; a grandson, Anthony Bohnsack; three brothers, Donald, Wayne and James Shaw; a sister, Hazel Streitilmier, and a son-in-law, James Bohnsack.
Services will be on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.
