Irene Merne Buhr, 87, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Unity Point Allen Hospital of natural causes.
She was born October 10, 1927 in Tripoli the daughter of Edward and Louisa (Frahm) Pavelec. Irene was Baptized in 1927 and Confirmed in 1943. She was a graduate of Tripoli High School. She married Willard E. Buhr on January 14, 1946 in Dubuque; he preceded her in death on May 9, 2011.
She worked as a cashier for Eagles Food Store. Irene was a longtime member of Trinity American Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two daughters, JoAnn (Doug) Asche of Waterloo, Renee (Tony) Santillo of Jacksonville, FL; two sons, Willard (Marcia) Buhr, Jr. of Rutledge, TN, Jerry Buhr of Kirksville, MO; five grandchildren, David (Sara) Asche, Suzanne (Shawn) Smith, Daniel Asche, Jennifer (Keith) Mason, Chad (Lindsey) Santillo; one sister, LaVera Bergen of Waterloo; seven great grandchildren, Amanda Asche, Emily Asche, Jarod Smith, Shane Smith, Luke Asche, Hannah Asche, Kalynn Mason; one sister-in-law, Verdeen Pavelec and two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Heinemann and Robert Maxfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Louise Spier, Phyllis Maxfield, Pearl Heinemann, Rose Kuhrt, Evelyn Davis, Mabel Pavelec in infancy and two brothers, Edward and Reinhold Pavelec.
