Services:
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1021 Poplar Street in La Porte City.

Visitation:
Public visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2014 and an hour prior to the services at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1021 Poplar Street in La Porte City

Cemetery:
West View Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded by USS San Diego American Legion Post of La Porte City.

Memorials:
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hawkins Memorial Public Library, 308 Main Street, La Porte City, Iowa 50651.

Biography--

Edward L. “Red” Marshall, age 91, of La Porte City, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Northcrest Specialty Care in Waterloo.

He was born February 16, 1923 in Eagle Center, Iowa, the son of James Aloyious and Anna Stacia Bridget (O’Flaherty) Marshall. Red graduated from La Porte City High School with the Class of 1940. He was united in marriage with Roberta M. Berryhill on June 3, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte City. She preceded him in death on December 13, 2014.

Red was a tool and die maker with John Deere and Co. for 41˝ years, retiring on October 31, 1983. He was a World War II Army Air Corps Veteran. Red was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte City, a member of USS San Diego American Legion Post and a past member of the board of directors for the Hawkins Memorial Public library. Red was an avid hunter, fisherman and a skilled story teller who loved classical and big band music. Most of all he treasured time spent with his family.

Survivors include two sons, Larry (Debbie) Marshall of Davenport, Iowa and Tim (Jill) Marshall of Blue Grass, Iowa; three daughters: Ramona “Moni” (Harvey) Hodges of Jansen, NE, Theresa (Mark) Jenkins of Floyd, Iowa, and Joan (Jeff) Havel of Grinnell, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Lois Kalvig of Evansdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Roberta and nine siblings.
