Sunday, January 25 and an hour prior to the services on Monday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel , 3146 Kimball Avenue, Waterloo, Iowa

Biography--

Edward L. “Eddie” Culpepper, age 68, of Waterloo, died Monday, January 19, 2015 at his home.

He was born April 3, 1946 in Sallis, Mississippi, the son of Rev. George L. and Ruby (Mallett) Culpepper. Mr. Culpepper graduated from Waterloo East High School and Hawkeye Institute of Technology, earning an Associate's Degree in electricians training.

He married Barbara Saffold in 1964 and they later divorced.

Mr. Culpepper was the Sector Chief for the Federal Aviation Administration (F.A.A.) at the Waterloo Regional Airport for many years, retiring in 2003. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed riding his motorcycle and playing the guitar. Most recently he resurrected his love for golf and began deer hunting.

Survivors include two daughters, Gwenne (John) Berry of Waterloo, Denise Culpepper Thomas of Des Moines, Iowa; a son, David Culpepper of Jacksonville, Florida; four granddaughters; four brothers, Willie (Alice) Culpepper of Le Claire, Iowa, Martin (Terry) Culpepper and Jerry (Sandy) Culpepper all of Waterloo and George Culpepper of Rockford, Illinois; and four sisters, Elaine Culpepper of Colorado, Linda (Laverne) Harris of Waterloo, Betsy (Rory) Lucas of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Annette Culpepper of Los Angeles, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Jean (Culpepper) McCoy and Darlene (Culpepper) Morgan.

Eddie loved spending time with his family, particularly his granddaughters.
