Biography--

Alvin M. “Al” Rohle, 90, of Waterloo, died at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, on Sunday February 8, 2015.

Al was born on December 5, 1924 in Waterloo, son of William and Augusta (Bruch) Rohle. He graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1942.

He married Betty Jane Suiter, June 10, 1949 in Waterloo.

Al was a route salesman for Alstadt‑Langlas Bakery for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He later sold for Gordon's Wholesale in Des Moines from 1982‑1992.

Al served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater on the USS Tennessee.

He was member of Zion Lutheran Church, Waterloo. He was also a 45 year member of the Waterloo BPO Elks #290, and a member of Northeast Iowa Marine Corp League. In his free time, Alvin enjoyed cooking and playing cards.

Al is survived by: his wife; son David (Katy) Rohle of Waterloo; daughter Lynette (Craig) Wickham of Waterloo; five grandchildren: Nick Rohle, Chelsi Wickham, Dr. Dan (Dr. Rachel Laing) Rohle, Dr. Lanie (Colby) Huffman, and Sarah (Brandon) Morton; six great-grandchildren: Charlee, Beau, Sylvie, and Rocco Morton, and Blake and Max Huffman; and brother Richard (Phyllis) Rohle of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by: brothers: twin Albert Rohle, William Rohle, Jr., and Robert Rohle; sisters Irma Hilton, Alma Bennett, Frances Tolson, and a sister in infancy, Viola.
