Biography--

Letha L. Curry of Waterloo, died Saturday, February 21, 2015, at the Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center in Cedar Falls.

She was born in February 19, 1929, in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Leo J. and Minnie Dixon DeSmet. She married Charles B. Curry in East Moline, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 21, 1997.

Mrs. Curry worked for Service Rubber Company in the Quad Cities during World War II. Letha and Charles worked at Balken’s Meat Packing in East Moline and later owned and operated a limousine service in the Quad Cities. They then moved to Waterloo, where they owned and operated CBC Air Freight for many years. She retired in 1999. Letha was involved with the United Way and Make-a-Wish Foundation. She was an avid bowler and golfer, enjoyed painting and crocheting, and loved music.

Letha is survived by one son, Jeff Curry of Waterloo; one daughter, Kathryn (Roger) Houwman of Port St. Lucie, Florida; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Edward DeSmet of Rock Island; and one sister, Melinda Avila of Rock Island.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Patrick Curry; and nine brothers and sisters.
