Biography--

Irey Norman Rose (affectionately known as “Bud” to family and friends) passed away on March 10, 2015 at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born the fourth of five sons on May 6, 1931 to Irey and Mabel Rose near Postville, Iowa. Bud married Ann Marie Heckman on August 8, 1954 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Bud and Ann had two daughters. They lived in New Hampton, Iowa, until 1993 when they moved to Waterloo to be near their daughters’ families.

Bud was a salesman at heart and could talk with anyone about anything during his life. He worked as a fertilizer and chemical salesman for Midland/Cenex/Land O’Lakes for 20 years. He loved traveling Iowa and enjoyed the hundreds of people he met over the course of his career. Bud loved the “hands-on” part of life as he constantly tinkered with computers, lawn mowers, power tools or anything that needed repair. He was always ready to take on any household projects for his family, whether on the ground or thirty feet in the air.

Irey is survived by his wife, Ann; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra (Duane) Lichty and Debra (Michael) Grimson all of Waterloo; his grandchildren (the apples of his eye) Joshua (Jennifer) Kannegieter of Monticello, Minnesota, and Hanna Rose Grimson of Waterloo; two great grandchildren, Peter James and Samuel Lewis Kannegieter and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, LaVerne, Charles, Eugene and Bernard Rose.
