Biography--

Rose Ann Spooner, 74, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Monday, June 1, 2015 at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital of natural causes.

She was born April 25, 1941, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Iona (Ritchie) Mitchell.

She graduated from Waterloo East High School. Rose married Gary Stern, and they were later divorced. She married Michael David Spooner on July 11, 1986 in Waterloo.

Rose had worked for many years as a waitress for Carpenter’s Restaurant in Waterloo and also worked and retired as a Home Health Care nurse.

Rose is survived by her husband, Michael of Waterloo; one son, Les Stern of Evansdale; one daughter, Lynnette Nichols of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; three brothers, Gary Mitchell, Paul (Janet) Rops, Lee (Linda) Rops and one sister, Pam (Dan) Schmitz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Pearl Mitchell; one son, Scott Stern; two brothers, Charles and Larry Mitchell; and one sister, Karen Roberts.
