Biography--

Elmore Sampson, 89, of Waterloo died at UnityPoint Health ‑ Allen Hospital, on Saturday June 20, 2015. He was born on December 04, 1925, in Durant, Mississippi, son of Ernest and Venia (Wright) Sampson.

Elmore married Idella Bailey on August 6, 1952 at Poplar Springs Methodist Church in Durant, Mississippi. He worked at John Deere for 36 1/2 years and retired in 1982. Elmore was a member of Shilliam Avenue Church of God in Christ.

He was an avid gardener and had a love for his hobby of recycling. Elmore had an insatiable sweet tooth for homemade baked goods. He cherished his time with family and loved ones.

Elmore is survived by his wife, Idella Sampson of Waterloo; a son, Elmore C. (Madeline) Sampson of Missouri City, Texas; four daughters, Karen (Charles) Allen of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Kimberly Sampson of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Rosalind Sampson, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Shereen (Steve) Brown, of Waterloo; a sister, Geneva Scott of Chicago, Illinois; beloved nephew, Roosevelt Sampson Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Pamela Yvette Sampson; a brother, Roosevelt Sampson Sr.; and four sisters: Myrtle Williams, Christine Baker, Reola Greenwood and Lavern Terry.
