Biography--

Anson H. White, age 95, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Sunday, July 26, 2015, at NorthCrest Specialty Care.

He was born October 21, 1919, on the family farm in rural Chickasaw County, near Nashua, Iowa, the son of Harry and Alma Mahlstadt White. Anson was united in marriage with Margaret M. Rush on March 29, 1941 in Mason City, Iowa. She preceded him in death on August 22, 2008. He was a US Army Veteran, serving from February 2, 1943 until his honorable discharge on March 11, 1946.

Anson worked for John Deere & Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1977. Following his retirement, he enjoyed serving as a tour guide for John Deere & Co. for 20 years and driving a dump truck until he was 81 years old.

Anson was a dedicated supporter of the Waterloo Chevaliers Drum and Bugle Corps and volunteered many hours with the organization over the years. He was also a long time member of the Waterloo Exchange Club, Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 in Waterloo and Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.

Survivors include two sons, Kent (Jody) White of Minnetonka, MN, and Kevin (Rossana Salvadori) White of Germantown, MD; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Virgil (Bobbie) White of Troy, MO, and a special friend, Helen Shipp of Evansdale.

Anson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Shirley Caulkins; four brothers: Junior, Ellis, Jim and Kenny White; and four half-sisters: Eva White, Doris Baerward, Vera Ingersoll and Elnora Schmidt.
