Biography--

Brian Michael Forster, 88, of Waterloo died Friday August 7, 2015 at Friendship Village Pavilion of natural causes.

He was born August 9, 1926, in Evanston, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Christine (Kammerer) Forster. Brian graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston with Bachelor’s degree in Speech. He married Beverly Prussing on September 15, 1951 in Wilmette, Ill. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2001.

Brian was a former Advertising Executive in suburban Chicago, who at the age of 42, lead his family on a bold adventure out of suburbia and into farming in Northeast Iowa.

He was community minded and served in various service roles to promote sound farming practices and general education at all levels. He was instrumental in the development of Lakeview Lodge & Lakeview Landing at Friendship Village. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Cedar Falls. Brian was an Assistant Soil Conservation Commissioner in Buchanan County and an active member of “Learning After 50”.

He served in the US Navy during World War II, in the Pacific Theater.

Survived by: one son, Scott (Joni) Forster of Highlands Ranch Colorado; one daughter, Susan (Russell) Wall of Johnston, Iowa; four grandchildren Brianne Wall, Alex Wall, Ben Forster and Jamie Forster and one sister, Jean Hanthett of San Francisco, Calif.

Preceded in death by: his parents, his wife Beverly and one sister, Ethne Stearns.

Brian will be remembered as a gentle, caring, considerate and devoted husband, father, grandfather, role model, counselor and friend.
