Thomas McCarville

May 16, 1933 - February 28, 2015

Thomas McCarville was born May 16, 1933 in Lourdes, Iowa: the son of Athanasius and Clara (O’Donnell) McCarville. He graduated from Cresco High School. Thomas served with the United States Army, and was honorably discharged.

He married Annelene Pries Diamler; they later divorced. Thomas was united in marriage to Joyce Taylor in 1976 in Jefferson City, Missouri.

He owned a Ford dealership in Jesup, Iowa and became a certified national club manager. He worked at the Ramada as food and beverage manager. Thomas was then manager at Sunnyside Country Club in November of 1976. Thomas then was the general manager Elmcrest Country Club in 1988. He was then the general manager at Flossmore Country Club in Illinois.

Thomas then went to Racine, Wisconsin to manage a club. After he semi-retired, he managed Jesup Country Club, and then became interim banquet manager at Fox Ridge in Dike. Thomas loved his family, friends, golf and playing cards with his buddies.

Thomas passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at ManorCare at the age of 81, from complications of Parkinson’s. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother Charles McCarville and two sisters, Mary Margaret McCarville and Elizabeth Leonard.

Thomas is survived by his wife Joyce of Waterloo; three sons: Brian (Susan) McCarville of Maine, John (Tracey) McCarville of Elmhurst, Illinois and James (Brenda) McCarville of Sarasota, Florida; a daughter, Julie (Mike) Elliott of Athens, Illinois; eight grandchildren: Christopher, Kelsey, Collin, Ryan, Brant, Megan, Matthew and Kristin; a step-granddaughter Angie; a brother Robert (Shirley) McCarville of LeRoy, Minnesota and a sister Ellen (Wayne) Frantzen of Maquoketa. Thomas will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial fund is being established.
