Deanna Kurtenbach

April 29, 1942 - April 25, 2015

Deanna Harriet Kurtenbach was born on April 29, 1942, in Mitchell, South Dakota, the daughter of Harry and Anna (Borup) Brim. She grew up in Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1960.

Deanna married Lyle Kurtenbach and later divorced. She was the secretary at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Evansdale for many years. Deanna then worked in childcare and was a hostess at the Hardees and McDonalds in Evansdale. She enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with her family. Deanna died at the age of 72 on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at NorthCrest Specialty Care Center in Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harold “Pete” Gabriel; and a sister, Betty Gabriel Harken.

Deanna is survived by a son, Ritchie (Christine Clarkson) Kurtenbach of Waterloo; a daughter, Renee Kurtenbach of Evansdale; four grandchildren, Cole (Christina) Kurtenbach, Tonya Kurtenbach, Clair Kurtenbach, and Ben Backes; and one great grandchild on the way.

Deanna’s family would like to thank the staff at Bridges Senior Living, the staff at NorthCrest Specialty Care Center and the staff at Care Initiatives Hospice for all of their love and support.
