David John Petitt

May 21, 1945 - July 29, 2015

David John Petitt was born May 21, 1945 in Glendale, California, son of John (Henry) and Mary Jane (Morton) Petitt. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict from 1963 until 1967. After returning to civilian life he earned his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). David had an adventurous spirit in his 45-year career as a truck driver.

He and his late wife, Jan worked as a husband-wife team until her passing. He then worked for Ruan Transport at the Target Distribution Center in Cedar Falls. David found his second youth, and the love of his life, when he married Keithlyn Kischer-Parigoras on June 16, 2012. Keithlyn had also lost her husband, Achilles Parigoras. Both having been widowed, found love and support in each other. They made one another very happy, sharing laughter and romance wherever they went. David was very affectionate and had a heart of gold. He greatly appreciated time spent gathering with Keithlyn, and her family, even throughout his illness and challenging treatments.

After gallantly battling cancer, David passed away at the age of 70, on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and stepfather, Pat Wills.

David is survived by his wife, Keithlyn; one son, Michael Petitt; two daughters, Charlene Sambrano and Jennifer Petitt; six step-children, Terry Pyle, Virgil Pyle, Mark Brazda, Joey Brazda, Laura Brazda-Payne and Teresa Anderson; seven grandchildren, Anthony Petitt, Suzanne Pagan, Jessica Roper, Savannah Petitt, Kassidy Petitt, Karsten Pyle and Wyatt Pyle; four great-grandchildren, Zoey Petitt, Zackary Petitt, Rebeckah Pagan and Riley Pagan; three brothers, Robert Petitt, Sean Wills and Timothy Wills; four sisters, Melinda Wills, Kimberly Schmidt, Melanie Badiu and Joan Eskew; his father-in-law, Kent Kischer; sisters-in-law, Karlene Kischer-Browne, Kim Kischer-Larson and Judy Covey; brothers-in-law, Bivan Kischer and Randy Covey.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
