Stacy “Stanley” Renee Swanson was born on May 30, 1984, in Waterloo, the daughter of Buck and Chris Swanson. She grew up in Waterloo and graduated from Union High School in La Porte City in 2002.

Stacy worked for the family business, Unique Services, as a researcher. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, Chicago Bears, Iowa Hawkeyes, and going to the races. Stacy died from complications of pneumonia at the age of 31 on Friday, July 31, 2015, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roger Walther and Cal (Sandy) Swanson Sr and an uncle, Marshall Swanson.

Stacy is survived by her parents, Buck and Chris Swanson of Waterloo; two sons, Draven Swanson-Johnson (14) and Tayton Thoren (8); three brothers, Jason (Julie) Swanson of Waterloo, Jeremy (Amy) Swanson of Strawberry Point, and Cody (Nona) Swanson of Waterloo; two grandmothers, Marilyn Walther of Waterloo and Pat (Don) Lindsey of Waterloo; a dog, Buddy; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Go Bears! Go Hawkeyes!
