Marjorie Lucille Boehm

March 18, 1926 - November 26, 2014

Marjorie Lucille Boehm was born in Klinger, Iowa, on March 18, 1926, daughter of Edward and Eleanor (Eickelberg) Hesse. She attended Bremer County Country School and Immanuel Lutheran School in Klinger as well as Readlyn High School.

She met and married Raymond Mischnick and they made their home in Illinois where Marjorie worked as a House Parent for the Lutheran Children’s Home. The couple had a son, Mark in 1950, but Raymond was not able to watch him grow as he passed away from throat cancer in February 1952.

Marjorie moved back to Waterloo where she worked as a Cashier at an insurance company. She later met Elmer Boehm and they married on May 19, 1963. A daughter, Mary, joined the family in 1967. In addition to raising children, Marjorie worked as an Avon Representative. She loved singing, gardening and family – especially her grandchildren. She shared her vocal talents through the Immanuel Church Choir and the Waterloo Mother’s Chorus and was a member of the Dorcas Society.

Marjorie passed away at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at the age of 88 years with Elmer at her side. She is survived by her husband, Elmer; son, Mark (Marge) Mischnick of Chamberlain, SD; Mary (Peter) Stewart of Austin, TX; five grandchildren: Miriam (Chris) Navurskis of Hinckley, IL; Matthew (Sarah) Mischnick of McFarland, WI; Michal (Sam) Needham of Vermillion, SD; Kelli Dixon of Houston, TX; and Clinton Dixon of Austin, TX; and 11 great-grandchildren: Mark, Nathanaiel, Claire, Anna, Kathryn, Ethan, Jonah, Seth, Ruth, Julia, and Ezekiel. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Virgil (Lois) Hesse; a sister and brother-in-law, Verona (Vern) Hines; her first husband Raymond Mischnick; and a son, Timothy Boehm. Marjorie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to Grace Lutheran Church.
