Obituary for Mary C. Moothart

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Mary C. Moothart, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, January 4, 2015, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

She was born December 25, 1927, near Lourdes in Howard County, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Clara Rinn Crowe. She married Donald J. Moothart on August 25, 1947, in Cresco, Iowa. He died December 10, 1999.

She attended high school in Cresco and then Ottumwa Heights College (Indian Hill Community College). She worked at Rath Packing and then was employed in Bookkeeping at the University of Northern Iowa for the UNI Foundation and Alumni Relations.

She is survived by four sons: Joseph (Nancy) of Cedar Falls, Patrick (Donna) of Urbandale, Michael (Patricia) of Plano, TX, Thomas (Karen) of Fort Collins, CO; three daughters, Anne (Michael) Dennis of Iowa City, Kaye (Eric) Norenberg of Oberlin, OH, and Jane (Dennis) Messingham of Waterloo; daughter-in-law, Maria Moothart of Cedar Rapids; 15 grandchildren: Mark (Renee) and Michael (Valerie) Moothart, Becca, and Kimberly Moothart, Colleen Wright, Sean Moothart, Christopher and Sarah Moothart, Elizabeth (Patrick) Tomka, Margaret and Samuel Dennis, Zachary and Molly Norenberg, Stephanie and Joshua Moothart; five great-grandsons: Finn and Remy Moothart, Jack Friess, Thomas and David Moothart.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Anne Moothart; a son, William E. Moothart; brothers, Thomas, Harold, James, William, and her twin brother, Joseph, at birth.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Service, where there will be a 2 p.m. Rosary and 6 p.m. Vigil service. Visitation also for one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Birthright of Black Hawk County, the church, Columbus High School, or the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
