Obituary for Gladys Mae Lorenz

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Gladys Mae Lorenz, 94, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Western Home Communities Stanard Assisted Living Center.

She was born October 16, 1920, in Clarksville, Iowa, daughter of Adolph and Alice Hahn Wedeking. She married Leland B. Dellinger in Black Hawk County. He preceded her in death. She married Elmer Lorenz in California and he preceded her in death.

She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1939. She worked on the farm and was a homemaker throughout her adult life. Gladys was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She loved doing jigsaw puzzles, embroidering, encouraging African Violets to bloom, and a friend to many…Bless her heart.

Survived by: three daughters: Marilyn (LeRoy) Katcher of Vinton, Carol (Richard) O’Connor of Cedar Rapids, and Colleen Evanson of Cedar Falls; two sons, Larry (Janet) Dellinger of Shell Rock and Russell (Cathy) Dellinger of Waterloo; and six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Preceded in death: infant daughter, Joyce; grandson, Terry O’Connor; and a brother, Glenn Wedeking.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Western Home Communities Chapel, Cedar Falls, with burial in Lynnwood Cemetery in Clarksville. Visitation for one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
