Obituary for Robert E. Brown

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Robert E. Brown, 94, of Huntsville, Alabama, formerly of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Floyd E. “Tut” Fann State Veterans Home in Huntsville.

He was born April 12, 1920, in St. Paul, Minnesota, son of Alfred E. and Elsie M. Wing Brown. He married Muriel N. Mitchell on April 26, 1949 in Pulaski, Tennessee. Muriel preceded him in death on October 23, 2006.

He served in the US Army during World War II and worked as a Pressman Printer with printing companies including: Woolverton, Congdon, Stewart-Simmons, and Williams Printing, retiring in 1964.

Survived by: two daughters, Shirley (Bob) Saland of Waterloo, IA, and Beverly (Robert) Gregory of Huntsville, AL; a son, Arnold (Betty) Brown of New Orleans, LA; six grandchildren: Angela (Keith) Southern, Cory (Tina) Saland, Amanda Shirley, Curt (Hannah) Saland, Aaron and Benjamin Brown; six great grandchildren: Jon Mullen, Jesse and Hanna Saland, Kaylee Southern, Lila and Lydia Saland.

Preceded in death by: three sisters, Thelma White, Carol George and Dorothy Foster; and a brother, Dale Brown.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, Iowa, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery, Waterloo, Iowa. Military Honors provided by the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 Honor Guard. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and also for one hour prior to the service Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.
