Obituary for Jane E. Jones

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Jane E. Jones, 77, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.

She was born November 29, 1937 in Waverly, Iowa, daughter of James B. and Alice C. Driscoll Zwanziger. She married John K. Jones on November 25, 1961 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.

She graduated from Plainfield High School in1956 and received her BA and MA at the University of Northern Iowa. She taught Jr. High Science for 19 years in Waterloo and also at Holmes Jr. High in Cedar Falls. She obtained a degree in Accounting and taught at Hawkeye Community College and Upper Iowa University. She gave accordion lessons for many years and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls.

Jane was active in Catholic Daughters, PEO, and Waterloo Retired Teachers. She was an avid card player, skier, bowler, tennis player and a RAGBRI rider for 18 years.

She is survived by her husband, John; brother-in-law, Adolph Babinat; sister-in-law, Betty Maurstad of Kansas City; nieces, Cheryl (Luther) Philpott of Waukee and Kris Doohan of Kansas City, MO; six great nephews and one great niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joan Babinat; and a nephew, Steven Kloster.

Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, with visitation for one hour prior to the service. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting with arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church, NewAldaya Lifescapes, or charity of choice.
