Mary Putnam (1911-2015)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Mary S. Putnam, 103, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, April 18, at NewAldaya Lifescapes.

Mary was born September 6, 1911, in Tama County, daughter of Jacob and Christina Meinders Baier. She married Gerald E. Putnam on December 2, 1935; he died on June 13, 1959.

She is survived by a daughter, Rosie Sorensen of Cedar Falls; a son, Michael (Jessie) of Clear Lake; a daughter-in-law, Fran Putnam of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Jerri (John) Olson, Gordie (Lynette) Sorensen, Gerald (Stephanie) Sorensen, Shari (Tad) Ritter, Jenifer (John Katz) Dvorak; great-grandchildren, Heather (Zeb) Nicholson, Ashley (Rodrigo) Sorensen Lara, Samantha Sorensen, Andrew Sorensen, Hayley and Ryan Ritter, Tyler Sorensen, Wolfgang, William and Jessalyn Dvorak, Dylan Olson, Austin and Dalton Dickinson; great-great-grandchildren, Quentin and Alice Nicholson; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Baier of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by a son, Donald; infant daughter, Patricia; her 17 siblings; and a son-in-law, Larry Sorensen.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation for an hour before services Wednesday at the Church. Richardson Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the church.

Mary for many years worked two jobs to help support her family. She has a strong faith and an amazing love for her family; she is rejoicing now in heaven with all those who have gone before her.
