Laura Janet Barnes (1925-2015)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Laura Janet Barnes, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, April 26, 2015, at NewAldaya Lifescapes.

She was born November 14, 1925 in Swanton, Iowa, daughter of George and Maude (Prugh) Jaquis. She married Virgil Renn and they later divorced.

She graduated from Shell Rock High School in 1943 and was a telephone operator, working in Waverly, Mason City and Ankeny. In retirement, she moved to Cedar Falls to work for a home health care agency.

She is survived by a daughter, Virginia Willson of Des Moines; two grandchildren: Rick Sharp of Cedar Falls and Andrea (Glenn Kothe) Sharp of Ashton, MO; two great-grandchildren, Alex Sharp and Elizabeth Kothe-Sharp; and a sister, Merna Haggin of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by five sisters: Dorothy Leuch, Ruth Lamfers, Georgia Jaquis, Mary Williams, and Kathryn “Irene” Whiteside; two brothers, Paul and Gerald “Jerry” Jaquis; and half-brother, Clyde Jaquis Hall.

No services are scheduled. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
