Obituary for Richard R. Green

(1920-2015)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Richard R. Green, 95, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Nebraska, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at NewAldaya Lifescapes, Cedar Falls.

He was born April 2, 1920 in Bayard, Nebraska, son of Charles and Marie (Hough) Green. He married Betty L. Sitler on May 26, 1946 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She died June 8, 2011.

He graduated from Bayard High School in Nebraska and attended Business School in Denver, Colorado prior to serving in the Army during World War II. After earning his BA degree from the University of Nebraska, he farmed and was a rancher until retirement.

Survived by: a son, Gerald (Sue) Green of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Susan (Frank) Hauser of Arnold, NE; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Green of Scottsbluff, NE; son-in-law, Jim Deterding of Summerfield, NC; nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ron; a daughter, Joyce; two brothers, Wesley and William “Bill” Green; and three sisters: Frances Green, Helen Russell and Ruth Grueber.

Services: 3:00 p.m. Saturday at NewAldaya Lifescapes Chapel, Cedar Falls, with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in Angora Cemetery in Angora, NE.
