Obituary for Damon B. Thorsrud

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Damon B. Thorsrud, 91, of Cedar Falls died Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Bickford Cottage in Cedar Falls.

He was born July 30, 1924, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, son of Clarence and Marie (Bobzine) Thorsrud. He married Marjorie Van Sant on March 17, 1945 in Madison, Wisconsin. She died May 14, 1984.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1944 and served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was employed in sales throughout the Midwest for Carey Salt Co. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.

Survived by: three daughters, Teri Weidemann of Walker, Minnesota, Chris (Steve) Williams of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Marie (Tony) Wessely of Mansfield, Texas; a son, Damon “Chuck” (Christine) Thorsrud of Homer, Alaska; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a sister, Nedra (Jim) Evenson of Kenai, Alaska.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Emerson Thorsrud and a son-in-law, Robert Weidemann; and companion, Peg Johnson.

Services: Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Service with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation for one hour prior to the service. Military Honors provided by the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 Honor Guard.
