May 20, 1921 - December 20, 2014

Carl E. Judas, 93 of Friendship Village, died Sat. Dec. 20 at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born May 20, 1921 in Franklin Township, in Bremer County, Iowa, the son of Henry C. and Martha Nevermann Judas. He married Kathleen M. Gappa June 12, 1946 in Waterloo. She died Sept. 8, 1978. He then married Maxine Miller Halbmaier May 9, 1980 in Waterloo. She died May 13, 2005.

Carl graduated from West High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945.

Mr. Judas was division manager at Sears for 37 years, retiring in 1983.

Survived by: two sons, Roger (Jean) of Waterloo, and Greg (Cindy) of Johnston; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Judas-Schoepske of Waverly; five step-sons, Randy (Carolyn) Halbmaier of Whittier, Calif., Michael (Susan) Halbmaier of Westminster, Colo., Mark Halbmaier of Omaha, Neb. and Mary Halbmaier of Ames, Kevin (Cynthia) Halbmaier of Albia, and Richard (Anne) Halbmaier of Cedar Falls; a step-daughter, Teresa (Craig) Paul of Plymouth, Minn.; 26 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Vivian Allen of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a son, Stephen Judas; three brothers and a sister.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Zion Lutheran Church with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and continue for one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.

Memorials: directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
