Agatha Clara “Aggie” Thome, 96, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Friendship Village.
She was born May 21, 1918 in Gilbertville, daughter of Valentine and Mathilda Mangrich Schmit. She married Joseph F. Thome on May 5, 1937 in Gilbertville. He died December 20, 2002.
Agatha owned and operated Joe Thome Trucking with her husband.
She is survived by three sons, Richard (Sharon) Thome of Waterloo, Ronald (Linda) Thome and James (Debra) Thome all of Raymond; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Schmit and Clete (Marcie) Schmit, both of Gilbertville; a sister, Laurene Weiers of Phoenix, Arizona; three sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Schmit of Waterloo and Lillian Armstrong and Bernedette Fischels both of Gilbertville.
She is preceded by three sons, Daniel, Kenneth (Carolyn) and Larry (Margie); four brothers, Lawrence (Mildred), Arnold (Gen), Irvin (Dorothy), Edwin Schmit; four sisters, Marcella (Bill) Sadler, Viola (Alfred) Frost, Irma (Frank) Kresser and Martina in infancy.
Services will be Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilbertville with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Raymond. Public visitation will be Friday, with a rosary at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street. Visitation also for an hour preceding services at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bosco System or the family’s wishes.
