Biography--

Joe Cronin, 76, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Sunday, October 18, 2015 of Leukemia.

He was born May 8, 1939, in Decorah, the son of Frank and Ellen (Beck) Cronin. Joe grew up in Decorah and attended Decorah schools.

Joe worked for John Deere for 21 years in the foundry and 10 years at PEC retiring in 1990. He married Angene Trunnell on April 5, 2008 in Cedar Falls.

Joe loved being out doors, bird watching, feeding the birds, turkey hunting, deer hunting, pheasant and squirrel hunting, and riding his Gold Wing (the Honda Davison). Joe was just one of those fun people – he was an Elvis look alike when younger, had nick names for everyone, loved to make others happy and feel important – he put others first and loved just being with and watching people. Joe was so proud of his wife Angene and all his grandchildren.

He is survived by: his wife Angene; sons Stephen Cronin of Decorah and Stanley Cronin of Cedar Falls; daughters Deann Wiley of Seattle, Washington, Danell Kittelson Waterloo and Denise Bolton also of Waterloo; Stepsons Alex (Lisa) Trunnell of Marion, Iowa, Anthony (Karen) Trunnell of Naperville, Illinois, and Grant (Kelly) Trunnell of Arlington Heights, Illinois; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with the third due in January; three sisters: Patsy “Chicken Coop” Graham of Decorah, Gladys “Cronin” Mincks of Decorah, and Janice “St. Bernard” Cronin of Marshalltown; two brothers: Robert “Possum” ( Ila) Cronin of Waterloo and Francis “Smokey” (Sally) Cronin of Omaha, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by: parents; stepson, Nick Trunnell; grandchildren, Kent “Birdhouse” Cronin, Keith Kittelson, Shane “Shaner Baner” Wiley; sisters, Marge “Flats” Mincks, Eleanor “the Boss” Moody and Grace “the Queen” Vickrie.

Thursday, October 22, 2015 Walnut Ridge Baptist Church

Visitation:
Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Locke Funeral Home; and for one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

Cemetery:
Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo

Memorials:
To Cedar Valley Hospice or to the Leukemia Foundation.
